Winter Vacation Packing List
Here is a list of essentials for those planning a winter trip to Breckenridge.
Long Underwear: Depending on the day, you might want to double up on this. My recommendation would be to spend the extra money for higher quality (look for a fabric that wicks away the moisture) and consider your warmth and comfort the return on investment.
Warm Winter Socks: Along the same lines as long underwear, the warmth of your feet is crucial. Bring several pairs and even consider layering depending on the activity.
Winter Hat: This is an essential! Do not forget this! Although there are plenty of shops you can purchase really cute beanies if you do forget. :)
Ski & Snowboard Helmet: If you’re going to be sliding on the snow, a helmet is a must!!! (All the rental shops rent helmets, so if you don't have one it is easy to rent.)
Winter Jacket: Make sure yours is designed for alpine conditions and freezing temperatures.
Snow Pants: Your legs are important – make sure you’ve got a good pair designed for our climate. It is worth investing in a pair of waterproof ski pants as jeans get wet and do not allow enough movement.
Winter gloves: Make sure to bring gloves or mittens made out of waterproof fabrics and insulation. It gets cold here...especially if you are skiing/snowboarding! Mittens tend to work best for the kiddos.
Ski & Snowboard Goggles: When it’s dumping snow on the slopes, sunglasses just don’t cut it. Use goggles for the snow and wind. They can also be helpful for dogsledding and snowmobiling.
Snow Boots: Bring something with tread so you won’t slip and slide around town.
Sunglasses & Sunscreen: Truth be told, we have more days of sunshine than San Diego and we are closer to the sun. Bring both or buy them in Breck. (We do provide some generic sunscreen in both of our rental units)
Swim Suit: Bring your swim suit for some fun hot tubbing when you’re off the mountain! - Although we do not have hot tubs accessible for our guests at either of our rental units, the Breckenridge Recreation Center has a large indoor pool and indoor/outdoor hot tubs you may want to take advantage of!
Camera: Don't forget this!!! You’ll want to capture all of your Breckenridge memories to last forever.
Bonus tips for a night on the town– Breckenridge is a laid-back mountain community, which means you can save space and leave your fancy clothes (and your stilettos) at home. For the ladies, a nice scarf, a little lip gloss and jewelry go a long way.
Forget a crucial item at home? Take a stroll down Breckenridge Main Street and check out the many shops specializing in winter gear. We live for winter, so finding great gear is easy in town.
